The dazzling golden Mask of Teres I, an ancient Thracian artifact discovered not far away from the village of Shipka in the Central Balkans of Bulgaria, is considered an outstanding discovery for Bulgarian archaeology. This archaeological marvel was excavated in the tomb of the first famous Odrys ruler, Teres I. The golden Mask of Teres I is dated to the 5th century BC.
This remarkable artifact is crafted from 23-carat pure gold, weighing approximately 670 grams, and showcases intricate details that reflect the exceptional craftsmanship of its creators. In addition to the Mask, the archeologist found an extremely delicate ring with a weigh of 15 grams and it is considered to be one of the largest Thracian rings that have been found so far.
